Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery 4.2 is loaded with extremely useful features that you can use to recover Windows files as well as to safeguard them in case the hard disk data is at the verge of loss owing to some major data loss situations. To make use of these features, there are different tabs (Data Recovery, Email Recovery, Resume Recovery, and Advance Options) that you can utilize, which are displayed on the Home Screen of the user interface. The description of these tabs is given in the following points:

Data Recovery:

The first tab of this Stellar Windows data recovery software has four different options that you can use for data recovery. These options are listed here:

  • Quick Recovery:
This option scans the selected partition and quickly displays all the files present in the selected media.
  • Deleted File Recovery:
Using this option, you can view the deleted files in the selected partition and restore them at a specific destination.
  • Formatted/Lost File and Folder Recovery:
If you have lost data due to hard drive partition format, then you should use this option to recover all the formatted data. This option performs a deep scan of the selected media and takes longer than the 'Quick Recovery' option but delivers better recovery results.
  • Search Lost Volume:
If you have deleted hard drive partition(s), then this option retrieves the lost/deleted partition and the data that it contained.

Email Recovery:

This tab of the data recovery software lets you recover deleted emails from MS Outlook and Outlook Express. The email recovery is facilitated using the following options:

  • Microsoft Outlook Email Recovery:
To recover emails from MS Outlook, this utility scans the Outlook PST file to retrieve the emails. You can save the recovered emails in .PST, .EML, or .MSG file format.
  • Outlook Express Email Recovery:
If you have lost emails from Outlook Express, then you can use this utility to scan the DBX file(s) to recover the deleted emails. You can save the recovered emails in .EML file format.

Resume Recovery:

If you have saved a scan information in the form of .dat file or an image file from a previous recovery operation, then you can resume the Windows recovery using this tab. For this, you should provide the .dat file or the image file by browsing your system.

Advanced Options:

The 'Advanced Options' tab has different options that help you safeguard your data as well as recover data from severely corrupted memory device. For this, there are three options that are described here:

  • Raw Recovery:
Using this option, you can perform signature-based file recovery from corrupt/damaged volume. This option recovers the file extension along with the sector number, which you can rename according to your preferences.
  • Drive Imaging:
This option helps you in creating image or clone of the selected hard drive. This option is particularly helpful if the hard drive is showing corruption signs and can become inaccessible any time. Also, it is easier to recover data from an image or clone of the hard drive. You can use the following options:
  • Create Image:
Using this option, you can create an image of the hard drive or any selected region on the hard drive. This file is saved with a .img extension, which can be used for data recovery.
  • Clone Disk:
This option lets you create a replica of the selected drive on another drive. It takes the backup of the hard drive data along with the file structure.
  • Drive Status:
This feature is used to display the SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Research Technology) attributes of the system hard drive. There are several important attributes related to the hard drive like number of sectors and cylinders, temperature, status, etc that this feature displays. With the help of this feature, you can infer whether the hard drive needs to be cloned or not.

Recovery Services:

In the last tab, Recovery Services, the information related to the Stellar Data Recovery Services is displayed. You can contact our service labs using the details if your hard drive is physically damaged.
